Environmental commitment covers a wide spectrum of actions such as lessening our footprint on the environment, using natural resources wisely, and taking a stewardship approach to operations and products.

With the majority of all manufacturing sites already complete, all Novelis sites are ISO 14001 (Environmental) certified, while 90% are OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety) with the remaining to be certified no later than the first quarter of 2006. For ISO 9001 (Quality) over 80% are certified.

One area Novelis is committed to is aluminum recycling. Recycling aluminum benefits the environment by reducing waste, conserving natural resources necessary to produce primary aluminum and reducing energy.
